G5 Environmental Methodology applied in municipal schools

Abstract

Environmental Education has been implemented as an alternative to minimize human activities that directly or indirectly affect people's health, safety or well-being, as well as impacts on the quality of natural resources.  In this context, it was implemented in schools in the city of Caruaru (PE, Brazil) with the objective of forming environmental agents that could act in the school and in the surrounding area. The methodology used in the work, called Environmental G5, consisted of five axes, water management, energy management, solid waste management, fauna and flora management and knowledge management. The tools used to implement the methodology were: lectures, videos, recycling workshops and technical visits. The students were motivated to transform the school environment, starting from the recovery and adaptation of a space that would allow the practice of environmental education actions. Therefore, the G5-Environmental methodology, allowed the direct and indirect participation of the community in actions that transformed the school environment, contributing to its sustainability.
