Mecanismos fisiopatológicos de la depresión relacionados con la pérdida de memoria

Introducción. La depresión se define como una enfermedad psiquiátrica multifactorial que afecta a más de 300 millones de personas y presenta síntomas como estado de ánimo deprimido. Puede desencadenarse por eventos estresantes y afectar significativamente algunas etapas fisiológicas de la memoria, como la recuperación, la velocidad de procesamiento y el almacenamiento asociados con funcionalidades aberrantes del hipocampo. Objetivo. Destacar las pérdidas de la depresión relacionadas con aspectos emocionales y cognitivos que comprometen la memoria, abordadas con base en anomalías neurofisiológicas. Método. Se trata de una revisión integrativa de la literatura elaborada a través de investigaciones utilizando las bases de datos Scielo, PubMed, LILACS, BVS y ScienceDirect, con los siguientes descriptores “Fisiología” y “Depresión” y “Memoria” en el período 2018-2023 y 26. Los artículos fueron seleccionados según título, resumen, año de publicación, tipo de estudio, idioma y concordancia con la temática. Resultados. Se realizó la revisión de la literatura respecto a la asociación entre la fisiopatología de la depresión y la pérdida de memoria, se describió la epidemiología, el carácter fisiopatológico de la depresión y las diversas facetas fisiológicas de la memoria. Conclusión. Por lo tanto, este artículo aborda un tema de suma importancia ya que las manifestaciones patológicas en la memoria, como el impacto neurocognitivo por depresión, son síntomas relevantes que impactan la vida de un individuo.
