Spanish and French authorities, as well as the maroons, participated of the
process of negotiation for the reducción of Bahoruco maniel, sited in Saint
Domingue/Santo Domingo border. The maroon community was divided in
two different groups, each of them with their own identities, leaderships
and policies. During the negotiation, which was affected by the Haitian
Revolution, each maroon group followed separated strategies in order to
satisfy their own necessities.
