Resumo

Este artigo pretende apresentar brevemente aspectos teológicos sobre o Juízo Final, o papel das imagens cristãs na arte medieval tardia e, conectando ambos os tópicos, mudanças iconográficas e desenvolvimentos nas representações visuais italianas do Juízo Final, particularmente em pinturas de painel, até o final da Idade Média. Buscamos relacionar essas mudanças principalmente às suas funções religiosas esperadas no estímulo à devoção privada.
