Teaching practice in Environmental Education: a case study on the garden in early childhood education

Abstract

This research has the focus of investigation to analyze the teaching practices in Environmental Education, highlighting the vegetable garden in Early Childhood Education. To that we sought to map and analyze Environmental Education practices developed at an Early Childhood Education institution in the city of Curitiba (PR). The qualitative approach was used to conduct the research and observation witch was adopted as a data collection procedure, based on Environmental Education Indicators in Early Childhood Education, created by the Research and Studies Group on Environmental Education and Complexity at PUCPR. Through the analysis of the data, it was possible to identify that, even with the presencie of teaching practices involving Environmental Education, there is a great gap in the area, mainly in the exploration of the vegetable garden in schools, considering the importance for the development of an awareness about care for the environment.
