TYPES AND FORMATS OF CONTRIBUTIONS

 

1. Papers

- Papers submitted for publication must be original and unpublished, and their simultaneous presentation in another Brazilian journal is not allowed;

- Submitted papers must contain between 4,000 and 10,000 words.

- After prior evaluation by the Editors, papers are submitted to ad hoc reviewers (in a blind peer review system), who can accept, refuse or suggest changes to the author;

- Multiple authors papers will be reviewed with the understanding that all listed authors agree with the submission and that the final version of the paper has been seen and approved by all co-authors;

 

2. Thematic Dossier

For each edition of Imagem: Revista de História da Arte, a dossier may be prepared, consisting of papers related to a predetermined theme, coordinated or not by a responsible researcher. The texts in the dossier must respect the same guidelines as the item "paper". Each dossier may contain a minimum of 3 papers and a presentation text in the same guidelines as a paper.

 

3. Artist Texts

This section is dedicated to experimental writing by Brazilian and international artists. Texts must be up to 6,000 words and may be preceded by an introduction of up to 2,000 words. They must have a title, abstract, and keywords in English, followed by the "paper" format.

 

4. Book Reviews

Reviews must cover national and foreign publications launched in the last 24 months. They must have up to 3,200 words, present a brief title and the complete technical file of the reviewed work. Quotations must be accompanied by the respective page number of the base publication reviewed. Except for the above, reviews follow the rules of papers and must present an abstract, keywords and title version in English.

 

5. Exhibition Reviews

Exhibition reviews must address national or international exhibitions that took place in the last 24 months. It must have up to 3,000 words, present the title, technical file, location and institution. For virtual exhibition, it must mention address/link, date and time of access. It is essential to quote artworks correctly.

 

6. Interviews

Interviews must follow the "question-answer" format and contain a maximum of 7,000 words. They must have a title, abstract, keywords and follow the paper submission rules.

 

7. Translations and Documents

Translations will be evaluated according to the importance and relevance of the translated text and must have a maximum of 9,000 words. For the rest, they follow the rules of the papers. They must also be accompanied by authorization from the author and the original text and source. In addition, translations or documents may contain a presentation by the translator or publisher with a maximum of 2,000 words.

 

8. Gallery

It is a unique place to explore, relate, comment and explain images presented by the authors. Papers for this section with a maximum of 5,000 words will be accepted. The included images must not exceed 8 (eight) - preferably in color, with a resolution of 300 dpi, saved in jpeg or tiff (vertical image: 24 x 18 cm; horizontal image: 24 x 36 cm).
