Abstract

This article is related to a Thematic Project developed with support from Fapesp (Process 2022/12333-3), which aims to map and analyze the international visual arts exhibitions that circulated in Brazil and other South American countries between 1948 and 1978. The article discusses the role played by the British Council in the international art circuit of the 1950s and 1960s, focusing primarily on the choices made by the organization for the British representation at the Venice Biennale and the São Paulo Biennial. It seeks to demonstrate the connection between the selections made for these events and to highlight the achievements of the strategies developed by the British Council during that period.
