About the Journal

Imagem: Journal of Art History (ISSN 2965-2952) is a biannual international academic journal affiliated with the Graduate Program in Art History at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP, Brazil), dedicated to Art History and related disciplines.

Imagem is edited, managed, and supported by scholars from institutions worldwide, committed to the study, development, and dissemination of Art History.

As its editorial focus, Imagem seeks transdisciplinarity and internationalization, promoting dialogue among researchers and institutions and advancing studies in Art History. The journal accepts full-text submissions in Portuguese, Spanish, French, English, and Italian.

The journal publishes contributions in the following sections: Articles; Thematic Dossier; Artists’ Texts; Book Reviews; Exhibition Reviews; Interviews; Translations and Documents; and Gallery.

The journal provides free and open access to all content, ensuring the global dissemination of knowledge with proper attribution of authorship and sources.

Master’s students may submit papers in co-authorship with their advisors or doctoral researchers.

The journal charges no submission, review, or publication fees.

All articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution – NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0): https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/.

Imagem uses Turnitin for plagiarism detection and follows the COPE (2019) Retraction Guidelines, adhering to international standards of editorial transparency and research integrity.

Digital preservation is ensured through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), guaranteeing long-term archiving and accessibility of all published content.

PERIODICITY

Imagem: Revista de História da Arte is published every six months (from 2022 onwards). 

Starting in 2026, articles in Imagem will be published on a continuous basis each year in a single volume.
