Abstract

This study aims to understand the conceptual differences and the evolution of the terminologies Environmental Education (EE), Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Education for Sustainability (ES) in the context of higher education. To this end, a bibliographic survey was conducted in the Scopus database, covering the last five years. The results indicate that EE is the least used among the authors analyzed. In contrast, ESD is more frequently used. Finally, ES emerges as the most promising alternative, as it considers the complexity of planetary interactions and proposes a break with patterns and lifestyles that contribute to the perpetuation of the climate emergency.
