Abstract

Currently, we are on the threshold of destabilizing the earth system. Despite the environmental movement having emerged in the 1960s, there continues to be low involvement of most of the population in environmental protection and conservation. Several groups of environmental activists have been transmitting messages in a disorderly manner. Thus, this investigation arises which, recognizing the inevitability of sustainable transition, considers the immediate adoption by the general public of an ethical position centered on the well-being of ecosystems to be unfeasible. In this way, a documentary analysis of the reviewed literature was carried out. Given the arguments presented, the pluralistic ethical position may respond to the concerns of those who base themselves attitudinally and behaviorally in an ecocentric and anthropocentric way, reducing conflicts and increasing understanding, necessary for any socio-environmental change.
