Abstract

The objective of this article is to propose an environmental education for students at the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS), Rolante Campus, seeking to raise awareness about the importance of correctly disposing of waste and consolidating a culture of respect for the environment. The research had a qualitative approach, using action research as a method. The results showed that the awareness actions within the school community at the IFRS, Rolante Campus, achieved the proposed objective as it considerably reduced the incidence of plastic waste along with organic materials. It is expected that respect for the environment can be part of the Campus culture, but the need for continuous environmental education actions, seeking to strengthen this new culture, is recognized.
