Abstract

It is necessary to promote sustainability education and environmental education at all levels of education. In this regard, educational games, such as serious games, address environmental issues in a playful and interactive manner, promoting behavioral changes, learning, and student engagement. This article is a theoretical essay that covers topics such as sustainability, environmental education, challenges of digital natives' learning, and serious games. The review highlights the contribution of serious games in environmental education to promote sustainability. The studies demonstrated how games can be utilized, including the use of educational technologies, to enhance teaching practices.
