Abstract

This article aimes to analyze a group of students' perception about the mangrove, and also to develop environmental actions targeted at the studied ecosystem. The research was carried out in a private school in Macau, RN, Brazil, with 23 students from Elementary School II participating. Through this study, the limited knowledge regarding the mangrove ecosystem presented by the students reflects an absence of an articulated educational environment in educational institutions in Macau, RN. In this context, it is fundamental for local institutions to adopt educational methodologies that reflect and adapts to the reality of the city, allowing students to be aware of the environmental issues found in the region.
