Modernity in the attic: Education and Art in Guido Viaro (2008), is a book that analyzes the relationship between Guido Viaro’s artistic and cultural project in the city of Curitiba, from the 1930’s to the mid-1960’s. Regarding the artistic and intellectual setting, Viaro has discussed the students’ autonomy, the valorization of individual expression and the influence of modernism in art. In order to stablish this relation, the author, Dulce Regina Baggio Osinski, mobilizes a theoretical contribution about the idea of modernity that permeates the cultural scene, from literature to plastic arts, including the generational discussion and intellectual trajectory. Osinski builds topics and mobilizes entanglement strategies with accuracy in the historical narrative. The book instigates the continuous reading, with Guido Viaro as a complex, seductive, contradictory and inconclusive character.
