This study has the objective to evaluate and establish the motor accompaniment in hemiplegic patients through Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale. Ten subjects, age 40 to 80 years old, both sex, were selected for the study by the Physiotherapy Service of Onofre Lopes University Hospital of the Rio Grande do Norte Federal University, during January to June 1999. During six months the patients received physiotherapy treatment three times for week. All patients (acute phase) in the admission received an initial assessment that repeated after 30, 60,105 and 150 days of the first. The Fugl-Meyer Scale evaluates five impairment measure including three motor control aspects like joint amplitude, pain, sensibility, upper and lower extremities motor impairment and balance. Dates demonstrated limitation in joint amplitude from the second assessment, always because of pain. In 30% the sensitive deficit in the first evaluation disappeared in second one. The motor recovery of upper and lower limbs was above 50 and 70%, respectively, in the last period. Wrist-hand motor recovery accompanied the development of shoulder-arm segment in 70% of the subjects. Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale demonstrated to be able to evaluated and measures the motor impairment of hemiplegic patient presenting effective in the collect, accompaniment and comprehension of evolution dates.
