Marine litter and Environmental Education in the context of the oceans

Abstract

Oceans are of vital importance for the health of the planet as a whole, considered the “lungs of the world” since through its flora a great portion of the oxygen we consume is produced. As the years went by human’s actions caused this environment to become more and more polluted through the diverse kinds of residues discarded, from oil and fuel spills to excessive amounts of trash, the sum of both causes a huge degradation of the marine ecosystem. The eyes of ambentalists  and country executives are turning to the oceans, elaborating strategies to depollute and stop future incidents, intentional or not, of the disposal of residues in the marine esphere. Besides, many programs are being created to promote an adequate discart of the materials “tossed” indifferently to repurpose them and create new things and even some that collect these materials in order to create art that brings awareness to the preservation of the environment to the general population.
