Abstract

The need to create an awareness on environmental preservation is growing. Evolutionarily, slowly and gradually different actions are being implemented. It is necessary to awake our society to citizen responsibility in relation to the environment. This paper aims to conduct a discussion about the connections between waste management, environmental education and citizenship, subverting the concept of function. Methodologically the text is the result of a qualitative-exploratory research, as to the purposes and bibliographical regarding the means, as it allows to mature or deepen a research problem through the knowledge of the work already done by other researchers. At the end of the reflections it was possible to establish, as a result, that the Environmental Education and Citizenship are very close. However, Waste Management, although it may tangent the theme, does not present a direct relationship with Citizenship, but it is associated with Environmental Education.
