Awareness actions in the implementation of solidary selective collection on a university campus

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate whether the educational actions carried out by the Recicla FUP group of Faculty UnB Planaltina have been successful in involving undergraduate students, administrative technicians and professors in the process of selective waste disposal. Data collection was performed through a structured questionnaire. More than 80.0% of respondents know what selective collection is. Murals and social networks are the most pointed actions for the efficient dissemination of knowledge about selective collection. The impediments to selective disposal were lack of personal motivation and lack of knowledge about how to make selective disposal. For greater engagement of the academic community, it is essential that educational awareness raising activities be continuous and permanent, in addition to the institutionalization of the project on campus.

  • Elaine Nolasco Ribeiro, Universidade de Brasília

    Possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (1999), mestrado em Engenharia Ambiental pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (2002), doutorado em Biotecnologia Industrial pela Escola de Engenharia de Lorena/USP (2008). Pós-doutorado no Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (2011). Atualmente é professora adjunta no curso de bacharelado em Gestão Ambiental da Universidade de Brasília, campus de Planaltina. Orientador credenciado no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Gestão de Políticas Públicas - PPGP da UnB. Tem experiência de ensino e pesquisa na área de engenharia sanitária e ambiental com ênfase em saneamento ambiental, e mais especificamente em monitoramento de efluentes industriais, ecotoxicologia aquática, qualidade e reuso da água, e gerenciamento de resíduos.
