Abstract

Introduction. Monomelic Amyotrophy (MA) is a benign motor neuron disorder, which particularly affects young people and the etiology is still unknown. Generally, this disease is considered a “benign” and non-progressive, which stabilizes within five years of onset. Frequently, after the clinical diagnosis many patients looks for physical rehabilitation for a better management of the myoarticulate sequels deriving of the compromise of the cells of anterior horn of the spinal cord. Method. We report a case of 22 years-old man, that there is approximately 11 years, presented amyotrophy associated with paresis of the right upper limb and suggest, based on the literature, possible rehabilitative strategies for the control of secondary complications. Conclusion. The professionals involved in the physical rehabilitation must attempt for the risks of an intense metabolic demand in the remaining motor units, some times, provoked by the “overuse”.
