Abstract

The diversity of environments in Corumbá and Ladário, combined with the abundance of bird species, makes these cities prime locations for birdwatching. This article aims to relate the activities of the members of the Pantanal Birdwatchers Club (COA-Pantanal) to the development of ecotourism in the region, entrepreneurship, its relevance in environmental education, its impact on biophilia, and its significance for local communities. The research was conducted through literature reviews, analysis of journalistic publications, and interviews with members of the Pantanal Birdwatchers Club (COA-Pantanal). The trajectory of COA-Pantanal, from its founding in 2017, and its impact on the local community and regional ecotourism are revealed. Through its activities, COA-Pantanal has not only increased the number of recorded species in these cities but also expanded the interest in birdwatching among local residents and helped strengthen the community’s connection with the surrounding natural environment. COA also laid a solid foundation for the development of educational and tourism initiatives that benefit both the residents and visitors of the region.
