Abstract

This article deals with the periodical press of the province of Minas Gerais during the Regency period (1831-1840)
especially from the perspective of political representation in a broad sense, relations between State and society,
represented and representative, civil society and political society, governors and governed and the participation of
the people in the “Prototype of the Toucinheiros” (bacon sellers).
