Abstract

In view of the publication of the National Strategy for Financial Education (ENEF), in 2010, in Brazil and the recommendation of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) to incorporate themes such as education for consumption, financial education and tax education, in a transversal and integrative way , the state of Paraná incorporated the Financial Education curriculum component, in 2021, for each High School grade of all schools in the state public education, including schools located in areas of Agrarian Reform. This article aims to present and analyze the potential of a proposal with a Marxist approach for the curricular component of Financial Education, in particular, with the theme of profit, developed in a class of the 1st year of High School, in a rural school located in settlement area of the Agrarian Reform, considering the pedagogical guidelines of the Education Sector of the state of Paraná of the Movement of Landless Rural Workers. Based on historical-dialectical materialism, this research took place in three stages: the first, the elaboration of a proposal, considering the MST's pedagogical guidelines; the second, the application of that proposal; and, the third, analysis of the results. The production of research data occurred through audio recording of these classes, with subsequent transcription. The classes were organized in an expositive-dialogued way, with guiding questions for the development of knowledge, in such a way that the students presented their conceptions about the approached themes and the professor placed himself as a mediator in the investigative process. In this article, the analysis focuses on a single class, in which the objects of knowledge addressed were: origin of profit and relationship between profit and work. It is concluded that the application of the proposal made it possible for students to distinguish appearance and essence in the topic addressed, as they overcome the initial view, they had that profit necessarily results from commercial capital, reaching the understanding that it comes from productive work. In this way, they could understand the origin of profit through a historical perspective and, in particular, perceive the contradiction between profit and work.
