They propose to promote a wide debate between the public and private power, the operators, the agencies, NGOs and institutions of education and research, mainly in what concerns the application of the planning and management of Ecotourism focused on practices of minimum impact.

The transference and exchange of this knowledge is of paramount importance for the analysis and prevention of the socioenvironment impacts of Ecotourism and related activities to be an indispensable tool to support the maintenance of preservation practices and strategic planning of leisure activities, interpretive of nature and Environmental Education, linked to the conservation of natural resources.

The thematic axes of this journal are as follows:

Axis 1 - Ecotourism and Environmental Education

Axis 2 - Ecotourism Planning and Management

Axis 3 - Management and Conservation of Natural Resources through Sustainable Tourism

Axis 4 - Teaching, Research and Extension in Ecotourism

Axis 5 - Community Based Ecotourism

Ecotourism is a practice that needs to be better studied and understood by the environmental sciences because, although it has been practiced for more than a hundred years (since the creation of the first national parks in the world: Yellowstone and Yosemite), it was only in the last years of the 20th century that it was set up as a growing and economically significant phenomenon.

Although its principles and guidelines are clearly established and seem conceptually understood by practitioners, in practice, Ecotourism still lacks a strategic vision that promotes its development at the national level. This statement is especially true when analyzing the development projects being implemented in Brazil and the difficulties in planning and obtaining results related to the commitments to Sustainability.

The RBEcotur was evaluated by the QUALIS system, a classification made by CAPES of the vehicles used by the graduate programs for the dissemination of the intellectual production of its teachers and students, whose objective is to meet the specific needs of the postgraduate evaluation carried out by this agency, with note available in Qualifications.

In addition, it was evaluated by the Selection Committee, being accepted and included in the database (Latin American Citations in Social Sciences and Humanities) edited by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México through the General Directorate of Libraries, which for 30 years analyzes more than 1500 titles from Latin American and Caribbean magazines. It is also indexed by Latindex (Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal).
