Sea tour in Guanabara Bay (RJ, Brazil): adversities and feasibilities for its popularization

Abstract

This research presents as a central theme nautical tourism in Guanabara Bay, an ocean basi located in the State of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), endowed with historical heritage and natural beauties, presenting the challenges for the offers of tourist services to be economically accessible to the metropolitan population of the city of Rio de Janeiro. As the main objective, the present research proposes an updated overview of the adversities and viability of tourist activity in Guanabara Bay, which, respectively, would favor the development of the tourist boat tour service in Guanabara Bay and, on the other hand, prevent its popularization. As for the methodology, it is a qualitative and analytical study with data collected through bibliographic research on the region of Guanabara Bay punctuated by an exploratory approach since consultations were carried out with private companies that offer nautical tourism services in the region to be in order to obtain itineraries and prices. As for the theoretical framework, historical contexts about the object of study were approached, as well as concepts related to nautical tourism in the country. The results of the studies, together with the analysis of other aspects, such as location, historical context, demand and adversities, reveal that more economically accessible tourist services in Guanabara Bay are viable and not only can have positive impacts for the metropolitan population of the city that can benefit from the natural, cultural and natural attractions without having to travel far, as they can also have extremely important economic and environmental impacts for the region.
