Minors. Escapes. Child labor. Fortaleza.Abstract
This article deals with the escape of minors from family homes in Fortaleza, from the end of the 19th century to the 20th century. The article also highlights how this issue was correlated with the problem of servers and with the public health crisis generated by syphilis at the beginning of the 20th century. The homes of tutors and employers constituted spaces of correction by the ethos of work. But the minors proved to be able to act for themselves, to make choices and to promote ruptures, even if punctual, in social structures rooted in a society between the end of slavery and the context of the immediate post-Abolition.
