O impacto do coronavírus (covid-19) e as mudanças climáticas na taxa de câmbio:

Abordagem multivariada para Moçambique

Resumo

Este estudo aplica o modelo Vector Autoregressivo (VAR), o teste de causalidade e de decomposição da variância, para examinar a relação entre a taxa de câmbio do metical (moeda de Moçambique) em relação ao dólar norte americano, casos de Covid-19, mortes por Covid-19 e a temperatura em graus célsius, concentrando-se em Moçambique como um exemplo de país em desenvolvimento, período de 01 de Janeiro de 2021 a 31 de dezembro de 2021. Os resultados indicaram a variável temperatura como estacionária em nível, e portanto, não há cointegração entre a temperatura e o restante das variáveis em estudo. Os resultados do VAR indicaram que, os coeficientes das variáveis da taxa de câmbio, casos da Covid-19, e a temperatura com quarta desfasagem, todos sobre a variável morte por Covid-19, são estatisticamente significativos. A série mortes por Covid-19, e temperatura com uma desfasagem, todos sobre casos de Covid-19 são estatisticamente significativos. Para o Modelo 1, apenas a variável mortes por Covid-19 com quinta desfasagem é a estatisticamente significativo sobre taxa de cambio. Existe relação causal bidirecional entre as mortes por Covid-19 e taxa de câmbio. A temperatura causa, no sentido de Granger, a variação de mortes por Covid-19. Existe relação causal unidirecional de casos de Covid-19 para mortes por Covid-19, e da temperatura para mortes por Covid-19. Fica a evidencia de que as mortes por Covid-19 são uma variável relevante que influencia as taxas de câmbio e, ao mesmo tempo, a temperatura tem influência importante nas mortes por Covid-19 em Moçambique.
