Abstract

This paper analyses the project of moral improving of the human being through the eugenics from the utopian view, connecting current works on moral enhancement with theoretical and literary works written in the XIXth and at the beginning of the XXth centuries that expressed the conviction that humanity improves, even morally, as a result of science and technology. Our thesis emphasizes the differences and similarities between the two paradigms that this aim has originated and, at the same time, it underlines the negative impacts that in our opinion certain eugenic assumptions have caused in the utopia.
