Principles and values

Prometeica is a multimedia magazine, of Latin American origin, online, open access, which offers a public and free space for interdisciplinary dialogue for the understanding of the sciences from a humanist perspective in which man himself is also the object of reflection. It is admitted as fundamental, from the use of digital resources, the dialogue of Philosophy and its subareas with other sciences, such as Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, with socio-historical, anthropological and art studies, enabling the understanding of the construction of knowledge in a diachronic perspective.  In this way, we fully adhere to the principles and values presented by Redalyc:

  1. Scientific knowledge generated with public funds is a common good and access to it is a universal right.

  2. The open, academy-owned, non-profit, sustainable publishing model with responsible and non-subordinate metrics must be strengthened.

  3. Open Access has no future or meaning without an evolution in research evaluation systems.

  4. The consolidation of Open Access requires the transition to digital scientific communication.

  5. Economic investment in Open Access must be consistent with its benefit to society.

  6. The sustainability of Open Access must be based on cooperative work schemes and horizontal cost coverage.

  7. It is necessary to recognize the diversity of scientific journals and stop the pressures that seek to homogenize them.

  8. Journals should allow the author to retain the rights to their work and remove their embargo policies.

  9. The social impact of science is the basis of the existence of open access.

  10. It is necessary to respect the different dynamics of generation and circulation of knowledge by area, especially in the case of the Social Sciences and the Humanities.
