Good editorial practices

PROMETEICA publishes its articles in online and "open access" mode, following the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) of 2002, through the Open Journal System platform. We understand as "open access" its complete and free availability on the Internet. We allow anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or use the published material for any other legal purpose, without financial, legal or technical barriers. We recognize, however, the authors' control over the integrity of their work and the right to be recognized and cited appropriately.

PROMETEICA follows the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) the Code of Ethics American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the Council of Science Editors (CSE).

PROMETEICA adopts the Code of Ethics's definition of misconduct, which consists of fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism in the design, execution, or review of research or the reporting of research results.

Misconduct in research does not include honest mistakes or differences of opinion.

Any cases of misconduct will be handled with the appropriate sanctions established by the Editorial Board.

Manufacturing: forging data or results will be recorded and reported.

Forgery: modifying materials, equipment or research processes, or altering or omitting data or results, so that the search is not represented accurately in the search record.

Plagiarism: it consists in the appropriation of ideas, processes, results, or words from another person without giving appropriate credit. Authors are responsible for the content and information contained in their manuscripts. Prometeica uses Turnitin software to detect similarities in submitted materials. Manuscripts that have been plagiarized will be rejected, and authors may incur penalties determined by the Editorial Board.

In the cases of Redundant and Segmented Publication, Correction and Retractions, Prometeica adopts the following recommendations:

  • Redundant and Segmented Publication: Prometeica undertakes to publish only original material, ie, material that has not previously been published (check rules in Sections - insert link) or is being reviewed in other journals, including different languages. Articles submitted to Prometeica should not be submitted to any other journal while they are in the process of evaluation by Prometeica. Redundant publication refers to the practice of submitting the same study in two or more journals. Segmented publication consists of the inappropriate division of the study results into more than one article (also known as salami publication), which may result in rejection or retraction of the article and the authors incurring in sanctions established by the Editorial Board of Prometeica.
  • Corrections and Retractions: in cases of errors or failures, regardless of nature or origin that do not constitute misconduct, they will be corrected through errata. For those articles already published in which misconduct is identified, the retraction will take place, and the Board of Editors will inform the authors of the reasons why. All authors will be asked to agree to the terms of the retraction.
  • Concerning the Conflict of Interest, Prometeica requests that the authors previously declare any personal or commercial interests when submitting their manuscripts. By submitting the article, the authors agree to the statement that there are no conflicts of interest related to the submission.

Editorial pact: considering the free publication of my article, in a journal indexed in Scopus, in the Web of Science and in other important international indexers, I commit to carry out two evaluations of articles, in my area of knowledge, as a way to contribute to the maintenance of an open and free journal.
