Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the participation of women in rural territorial planning in the Andes of Ayacucho (Peru). The study was qualitative and 11 women (farmers and ranchers) and 6 men (with positions in administration) were interviewed. Women play an active and significant role in rural territorial planning, overcoming challenges and promoting mutual aid through community organization. There are barriers linked to traditional gender roles that limit their full participation in rural territorial planning. However, the presence of women in decision-making meetings has increased significantly, although there are still challenges such as prioritizing the voice of men in communal assemblies. This advance underscores the need to promote greater inclusion and gender equity in leadership roles within rural territorial planning.
