Abstract

Energy consumption and economic growth have led to environmental degradation. Power plants are one of the main sources of pollution. There is a need to use renewable energies to reduce the environmental impact. However, in developing countries, lack of economic resources limits the adoption of clean energy. Clean energies, such as solar, wind, hydro and geothermal, are sustainable sources of energy. Hydropower can be controversial due to its environmental and social impacts. Biomass and biogas are also renewable energy sources. Energy efficiency is another important area to reduce dependence on non-renewable resources. The article discusses the importance of clean energy and sustainable development in Peru. The potential of ocean wave energy, bioethanol and biodiesel as renewable energy sources is mentioned. The environmental impacts of "dirty business" and the socioeconomic implications of clean energy are also addressed. Conflicts of interest and regulatory regulation in the country are discussed, as well as future perspectives and the need for a stable and sustainable energy development.
