Connections between Production Engineering teaching and sustainable development in organizations

Abstract

This article discusses how the academic training of Production Engineering professionals contributes to the mitigation of environmental impacts and sustainable development in organizations. The educational process assumes protagonism in the face of the needs of new times as the academic needs to have contact with the most varied axes of technical and human training, so that they are able to act directly in the materialization of the pillars of sustainability in companies and organizations. From an emancipatory perspective, in the face of social movements that seek sustainable products and companies and based on documents regulating and legislating on the subject, Production Engineering is articulated with environmental issues, combining theory and quality of higher education with sustainable practices in its professional performance, adding value to companies and organizations, from a social, environmental and economic perspective.
