O pensamento político de Carlos Lacerda: uma tentativa de mapeamento

Carlos Lacerda (1914-1977) was one of the main actors in republican political history and an opponent feared by his opponents. However, there were few attempts to learn about his political thinking. Relegated in part of historiography and political memory to a stereotype of a coup, expressed in the epithet of “demolition of presidents”, Carlos Lacerda was rarely interpreted in terms of the ideas he defended. The aim of this article is to investigate a theme treated in a tangential way in the historiography about the character in question, trying to provide initial subsidies for the construction of a map of his political thought. For this purpose, the morphological analysis formulated by Michael Freeden is used for the study of political ideologies, a tool that will help to identify and rank the main concepts present in Carlos Lacerda's political thought, considering articles and editorials published by him among the years 1945-1946 and 1949-1955 in the newspapers Correio da Manhã and Tribuna da Imprensa.
