Abstract

The importance of love and eroticism in our lives seems to be a privileged way of approaching the profound social and historical crisis we are experiencing, which threatens life on the planet and calls into question the meaning of Western civilization in the history of humanity. We propose three topics for this discussion: the dimension of the crisis, which places us on the brink of the abyss due to its climatic and demographic impact on the world; the emptying of the sense of life under capitalism, of which our system of technical-scientific knowledge is part, as a result of the history of Western thought; and the meaning of love and eroticism in life, in our social and interpersonal relationships. In this last topic, we explore the ontological meaning of love and eroticism in life, from a social and personal point of view. From a social point of view, as the foundations of every society, whether well or badly achieved; from a personal point of view, as the possibility of the most intimate relationship between lovers, in which we will highlight the meaning of sexual relations.
