Translation Shanfara: the poetic of refusal, from adonis
Main Article Content
Abstract
This text consists of a translation made within literary studies of arabic poetry in the University of São Paulo, ministred by Professor Michel Sleiman, who kindly offered to guide and supervise the process of translation from Arabic to Portuguese. The original text can be found in the book kalām al-bidāyāt (Adonis, 1989), meaning, in a free translation, “speech from the firsts”. In this book, by the poet Adonis, the author shows another side of himself, a literary critical side, reuniting articles about different Arab poets from the pre-islamic period, and Shanfara is one of them. This translation has occupied itself with the chapter šanfara: šicrīyat ar-rafḍ, that could be translated to “Shanfara: poetic of refusal”.
