Notes on translation in British Orientalism

Abstract
The article addresses the organization of translation work undertaken by the Royal Asiatic Society of Britain and Ireland at the end of the 19th century, the Islamic routes of translation and scientific transmission researched by Orientalists and issues related to native historiographies and History of science. The goal is to bring contributions to the discussion on asymmetric historicity in scholar Orientalism, thinking about native’s collaborations in historiographical translations and the weight of orientalist research for the debate of the historical foundational parameters to the notion of Modernity.
