Imagem: Revista de História da Arte (ISSN 2965-2952) is an international peer-reviewed academic journal affiliated with the Graduate Program in Art History at the Federal University of São Paulo (Brazil), dedicated to Art History and related fields, promoting the dissemination of original research and critical debates. Imagem is edited and managed by researchers affiliated with institutions around the world, committed to the study, development, and dissemination of Art History. Imagem is a fully open access journal: all content is immediately and freely available, with no embargo and no price or permission barriers. The journal does not charge submission or publication fees. All articles are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Imagem uses Turnitin for plagiarism detection and follows the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Imagem is rated A2 by Capes.

In recent years, we have witnessed a growing strengthening of reflections on images produced by women and on the ways in which female bodies, subjectivities, and gazes have been represented—or erased—in the fields of cinema, visual arts, and photography. This dossier aims to gather articles that contribute to the critical debate on the presence—and absence—of women in and behind images, from an intersectional, historical, and political perspective.
