Governance Policy

Aiming to provide RevBEA with an efficient governance system compatible with the best editorial practices, a specific nomenclature was developed for its editorial policy. The highest authority that defines editorial directions is the Brazilian Environmental Education Network (REBEA) through its National Facilitation group. For each instance of this governance - Editorial Board, Scientific Evaluating Committee and Editorial Committee - there is a precise definition of duties and responsibilities, highlighting the need to always guarantee ethical principles and full transparency of the editorial process, always defined by the REBEA National Facilitation, after listening to the suggestions and recommendations of its Editorial Committee.

Editorial Board

The Editorial Board is made up of Facilitators from the Brazilian Environmental Education Network (REBEA) designated for this role at an ordinary meeting of the Brazilian Environmental Education Forum. The activities of the Editorial Board will, as a priority, be collective, with individual advisors being able to be requested from time to time, with the provision of extraordinary meetings to deal with issues on the agenda. The role of each member of the Editorial Board in the work of the Journal may be individual, through coordination with the facilitator of their network, a member of REBEA Facilitation or with a member of the Editorial Committee. In fact, each member acts as an advisor to the REBEA Facilitation and the Editorial Committee, nominating reviewers, interpreting and suggesting improvements in the Editorial Policy, publicizing the magazine, positioning themselves as an arbitrator in strategic issues of RevBEA in academic spaces, formal basic education and non-formal education, as well as other areas of activity for environmental educators, and cities, considering the diversity of communities. Furthermore, speaking out on relevant issues, such as the consistency of editorial policy and publications, their quality and also on ethical issues pertinent to editorial management and the dissemination of articles. Each member also assumes the role of “listener” to the community working in the area of Environmental Education and REBEA Facilitation, ensuring the credibility and stance expected from an academic journal and the dissemination of Experience Reports in the field of Brazilian Environmental Education. . It is not the responsibility of the Editorial Board members to supervise or interfere in the editorial process.

Scientific Assessment Committee

The Scientific Assessment Committee is made up of academic representatives, educators and professionals from various research groups working in the socio-environmental area in organizations in the field of Environmental Education and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), basic education and non-formal education, coming from different regions of the country and belonging to the network of the Brazilian Environmental Education Network (REBEA). There may be international representation, guaranteeing their effective participation in the direction of the Journal. The mission of this Committee is to ensure the credibility of the editorial procedures adopted, the thematic consistency and the final quality of the publications, which implies a commitment to the indexing criteria in renowned bibliometric databases, as well as ethical commitments present in the guiding documents and REBEA's political positions. This Committee must also seek institutional and financial support for the maintenance of RevBEA. The members of the Editorial Committee direct the Scientific Evaluation Committee, requesting contributions from its individual members to issue opinions on the works presented to the Journal. The members of this Committee may suggest special calls for topics of interest to the community of Brazilian environmental educators, and may establish forums for thematic editions. The Scientific and Evaluation Committee does not directly interfere in the editorial operation of RevBEA, which is the responsibility of the Editorial Committee and its team, in partnership with the Editorial Board.

 

Editorial Committee

Group of facilitators, members of the REBEA National Facilitation, responsible for publishing the magazine in its technical and academic aspects, with the support of a support team. The entire editorial process is carried out through the Electronic Magazine Publishing System (SEER), making the editorial flow extremely impersonal, as shown in the flowchart of activities in the publishing process of the Open Journal System - OJS platform, in the menu item “About /About the Electronic Magazine Publishing System”. Among the functions of the committee members are the prior selection of articles sent for publication, their distribution among the reviewers of the Scientific Evaluation Committee, the evaluation of articles, depending on the opinions issued, their forwarding for review, the editing and publication of approved texts. It is the responsibility of this committee to comply with the standards adopted for the publication and formatting of articles or Experience Reports. It is also up to the editorial committee to allocate an Editorial Support Team to operate SEER and eventually handle routine tasks of the editorial process (review, editing, final proof preparation), without passing on its responsibilities.

Editor

Person of the editorial committee designated to respond as editor-in-chief, assuming the responsibility that this position provides. The editor-in-chief is responsible for coordinating the work of the Scientific Assessment Committee in conjunction with the Editorial Board.
