Content & Grammar Review

Content review: the revised article, based on the reviewers' indications, should contain the changes made in red for easy identification by the editors.

Grammar review: if necessary, authors commit to submitting the article to a revision carried out by a specialist in the field and sending, along with the revised article, a letter signed by the professional responsible for the work.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

1) No Fees - Prometeica is entirely free of charge! Prometeica does not charge submission fees or article processing charges (APCs).

2) Editorial Pact – Considering that:

a) Prometeica is completely free, with no publication or article processing charges (APCs).

b) The journal is indexed in the most important international databases: Scopus, Web of Science, Redalyc, Latindex, Base, DRJI, among others.

All authors and co-authors must accept the following commitments as a necessary condition for the publication of the article:

  • Register as an author on the platform, completing all required metadata fields in the journal's three languages (English, Portuguese, and Spanish).
  • Conduct two peer reviews of articles within their field of expertise as a way to contribute to the maintenance of an open, free journal without fees.
  • Cooperate in editorial tasks, particularly:
  • In the formatting of graphic styles.
  • In grammatical revision: if necessary, authors commit to submitting the article to a revision carried out by a specialist in the field and sending, along with the revised article, a letter signed by the professional responsible for the work.

3) Anti-plagiarism and AI Use: Prometeica adopts an anti-plagiarism policy and controls the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure authorship and the scientific quality of articles. Although we subject all texts to rigorous analysis by similarity software and AI detectors, we require as a condition for acceptance that all authors sign the AI usage declaration available on our website.

4) Co-authorship: All articles with more than two authors must indicate, in a separate document at the time of submission, the specific contribution of each author to research and writing. Multi-authored articles that do not provide this indication will be rejected beforehand.

5) Original Articles: Submitted articles and reviews must be original (unpublished), meaning they cannot have been formally published in other journals. Articles whose preliminary versions were disclosed for debate at scientific events (congresses, seminars, colloquia), published in their respective Proceedings or in their respective institutional repositories are accepted. Submitted articles may not be under simultaneous evaluation by other journals. By submitting to the Prometeica platform, the author agrees to this requirement.

6) Article Length

a) Full articles: between 6,000 and 10,000 words (from title to references).

b) Abstracts: maximum of 250 words.

c) Reviews: maximum of 2,300 words.

7) Languages: All articles must have a title, abstract, and keywords (3 to 5) in three languages: Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

8) Accepted Languages for Publication:

a) Spanish

b) Portuguese

c) English

9) Submission via Platform: Articles must be sent to the journal only through user access to the OJS platform, in .doc, .docx, or .odt format.

10) Formatting Template: Articles must be written using the template Modelo_Autor_Estilos.dotx to follow the styles and formats of Prometeica, described in Formato_Prometeica_2019.pdf.

11) Files for Submission: Papers must be submitted in two distinct files:

a) File 1: The article and abstract, without author identification.

b) File 2: Author data (brief CV, academic affiliation, ORCID, email, funding source, and other identification information).

12) Citations and References: Prometeica adopts APA standards (7th edition). All submitted articles must comply with this standard.

13) Footnotes: Should be used only for essential clarifications. We suggest that authors do not overuse this resource.

14) Images: Images must additionally be sent in a separate file, with a resolution of 300 dpi and in .jpg format. Copyrights must be settled (granted or free use).

9.    [ ] Signed AI usage declaration.

10. [ ] Images in a separate file (.jpg, 300 dpi) with authorized copyrights.

11. [ ] Standards and Commitments: Citations and references follow APA 7th edition.

12. [ ] Complete registration on the platform (metadata filled in all 3 languages).

13. [ ] Acceptance of the commitment to perform two article reviews in the field.

14. [ ] The article is original and is not under simultaneous evaluation in another journal.

 

IMPORTANT

1)    Blind Review: File metadata must be removed by the author before submission to ensure anonymity between authors and reviewers.

2)    Deadlines: After submission, the author will receive a confirmation email. The editorial committee will have up to 4 months to issue the evaluation report. The maximum expected time between submission and publication (in case of acceptance without revisions) is 6 months.

3)    Evaluation Process: Articles are submitted to a double-blind peer review system by two external specialists. In case of disagreement, a third reviewer will be consulted. The journal may use open evaluation in specific cases, with prior consent from those involved.

4)    Results: Reports may indicate:

a)    Recommended for publication without changes;

b)    Recommended for publication with changes;

c)     Recommended for resubmission;

d)    Not recommended for publication.

5)    Modifications: Publication is conditional upon the author's willingness to carry out the modifications suggested by the reviewers.

6)    Translations: Prometeica does not perform translations. All approved works will be published only in the languages accepted by the journal.

7)    Responsibility: The content of the published texts is the exclusive responsibility of their authors.

8)    Complete Registration: The registration form must contain: full name, ORCID URL, email, academic affiliation, and a mini-CV. Failure to comply with this item may result in the immediate rejection of the article.

Articles

The dialogue of Philosophy and its subareas with other sciences, such as Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, including papers on socio-historical and anthropological approaches or Art studies, is fundamental to the understanding of the construction of knowledge in a diachronic perspective. The content of the submitted texts is the responsibility of the authors and their publication in the journal depends on approval in the blind peer review. 

Articles should:

  • List the bibliographic references that support the scientific argument in question;
  • Have a title, abstract (up to 250 words), and keywords (from 3 to 5) in three languages: Portuguese, English, and Spanish;
  • Have 6,000 to 10,000 words
  • Be composed of an introduction, the development, a conclusion, and the list of references;
  • Organize the bibliographic references in APA format.
  • Be submitted through the platform and follow the graphic standards described in the documents pdf and Modelo_Autor_Estilos.dotx.

Interviews

The section accepts texts in the form of interviews with at least 8 and at most 15 questions. It is necessary to include, at least, a portrait of the interviewee — a maximum of 2,300 words. Images and texts should follow the graphic standards described in the documents Formato_Autor_2019.pdf and Modelo_Autor_Estilos.dotx.

Reviews

The section accepts reviews on books, science or art exhibits, museums, and academical events — maximum of 2,300 words. For book reviews, please, include at least one (1) picture (illustration, or photography). For exhibits and events reviews, please, include at least 3 and at most 5 pictures. Images must necessarily include explanatory captions. Instructions for submitting images should follow rule number 9 stated in the Submissions Preparation Checklist. The texts and images should follow the graphic standards described in the documents Formato_Autor_2019.pdf and Modelo_Autor_Estilos.dotx.

It is a section with introductory text written by the editor-in-chief, the guest editor or the assistant editor in charge. The Editorial is the sole responsibility of the team of editors and expresses the opinion of the journal, not being submitted to peer review.

The section accepts unpublished texts, that is, texts that have not been formally published in their final version as scientific articles in other periodicals of any area. The journal accepts articles in their final format even if they have had their preliminary versions published for debate in congresses, seminars, colloquia or lectures and | or published in a preliminary version in the Proceedings of these events. The texts in this section also need to incorporate interdisciplinary understandings of the sciences from humanist perspectives in which man himself is also the object of reflection. The dialogue of Philosophy and its subareas with other sciences, such as Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, including papers on socio-historical and anthropological approaches or Art studies, is fundamental to the understanding of the construction of knowledge in a diachronic perspective. Debates - Dossier 1

The section accepts texts in the form of an academic essay or a set of images in the form of a visual essay. In the first case, written essays expressing interdisciplinary dialogues between philosophy and science will be accepted, with humanistic perspectives, without the need for an argumentative structure based directly on bibliographic references or with fewer bibliographic references of a broader nature. The structure of the text is similar to that of an opinion article — maximum of 10,000 words, including footnotes (if any) and a general bibliography. In the second case, visual essays should have 5 to 10 images and it is also necessary to submit a written presentation containing up to 50 word a mini-biography of the author/artist of a maximum of 30 words. It is up to the author/artist whether or not to include captions in the images. The texts and images must follow the graphic criteria described in the documents Formato_Autor_2019.pdf and Modelo_Autor_Estilos.dotx.    The content of the articles is the responsibility of the authors and their publication in the journal, as it expresses opinions in debate related to the profile and objectives of the journal, does not undergo peer review, but depends on the approval of the team of editors.
