Writer’s cramp has been recognized for at least a century and is characterized by involuntary contractions of the muscles of the upper limb involved in writing in spite of the normal motor control in other activities, sometimes painful and the pencil can be lost. Is a kind of task specific dystonia or occupational that affects the quality of life and it doesn’t have a suitable therapeutic response. The uses of drug therapy that act in a systemic way like gaba agonists, anticholinergics and botulinum toxin not have been found to be of reliable pharmacological benefit. The aim of this study is recognize the clinical aspects of writer’s cramp and introduce a recent therapeutic proposal through the use of splint to immobilize the affected muscles.
