Abstract

Introduction. Childhood Apraxia of Speech is characterized by a deficit in the planning and programming of speech movements, requiring an appropriate diagnosis and so that an appropriate treatment is possible so that the affected children develop their communicative skills through speech. Objective. Due to the important relationships between musical elements in interventions involving language and speech disorders, especially through melodic intonation or prosody, the objective of this study was to evaluate if music therapy intervention through singing is a promising possibility for this audience. Method. The present work aims to investigate the therapeutic possibilities through a literature review, through an online database, published in the last ten years. Results. 4 articles were included that explored the theme childhood apraxia of speech and intervention through the use of music and music therapy. Conclusion. The results showed that musical elements can offer opportunities for children to practice speaking, pointing out the need for evidence on the topic, with a more structured methodology and a larger sample size.
