Introduction. Stroke is the acute onset of neurological dysfunction due to an abnormality in the cerebral circulation. Among these changes, ataxia limits functional activities. In order to decrease atypical movement, deep cerebellar stimulation (DBS-C) was developed, as well as therapeutic programs for the independence of these patients. Objective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the patient's functional evolution after the rehabilitation process after DBS-C. Method. This is a case report. Three evaluations were performed, before stimulation, after stimulation and after rehabilitation, through the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). The rehabilitation consisted of speech therapy, occupational therapy, ground physiotherapy and aquatic physiotherapy. Results. Improvement of the patient was observed in the following items: care with appearance, sphincter control (bladder and anal) and climbing and descending stairs in the postoperative evaluation and feeding, use of toilet, bath and walking after the intervention therapy. Chair-to-bed transfers improved after surgery and after multidisciplinary intervention. Conclusion. The results showed that the multidisciplinary treatment after DBS-C with the electrode in the left dentate nucleus was favorable for the improvement of the patient's independence.
