Amyloidosis is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by extracellular deposition of abnormal protein fibrils in various tissues and organs. These fibras are derived from different protein precurssors and their accumulation results in many forms of diseases. Although the exactly way this occurs is not well known, the structure of the amyloid material is well studied, what provides advances in diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.
