Abstract

The authors describe an HIV negative patient with a subacute onset of headache and sleepiness with abnormal cerebral imaging investigation. The cranial CT scan revealed a ring-enhancing lesion at the right thalamus and the MRI of the brain confirmed the presence of an isolated thalamic lesion. A stereotactic-guided brain biopsy brought up the hystological diagnosis of cerebral actinomycosis, succesfully treated with high doses of intravenous penicillin
