Abstract

The musicians dedicate several hours daily studying the technique of their instrument, and professionally playing. The main types of injuries are: musculo-skeletical disorders, nerve compression, and motor dysfunction. The most common compressions are those of Interosseous Nerve, Thoracic Outlet and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. They occur due to direct compression of the instrument over the traject of the nerve or to the incorrect posture while placing the instrument, or even by the narrowing of the nerve trajec due to repeated movements. Nine to 14% of the musicians have focal dystonia. It is necessary that professionals who treat physical disfunctions submit a preventive and healing implementation protocol. The techniques mostly used are: Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Miofasciotherapy, Feldenkrais, Rolfing, Iso-Stretching, Global Postural Reeducation, Hydrotherapy, Alexander Technique, Maitlland vertebral manipulation method. These techniques must be studied and compared through controlled trials, in order to select the best techniques to treat these dysfunctions.
