Introduction. Since the birth, the child develops varied abilities like rolling, seating, crawling, walk and run. Extrinsic factors as the overweight can influence during acquiring of these new abilities. Objective. Analyze the influence of overweight in the development of the postural control in a term subject. Methods. The subject was evaluated monthly during four months, ages seven, eight, nine and ten month old. During the evaluation was observed items like sustentation of weight, antigravitational position and movements in prone, supine, seated, and stand positions, using the Alberta Infant Motor Scale. The weight was measure through reports from responsible pediatric. Results. It was observed that the subject did all the activities adjusted for his age, however with difficulty, after repeated attends. The weigh was over in all measures. Conclusion. Overweight can be considered one of the factors that influence motor development properly,
even in subjects without neurological and factors risks.
