Abstract

The hypothesis about the participation of ion channels in the pathogenesis of the Alzheimer disease (AD) suggests that the beta-amyloid peptide (Aβ), accumulated in plaques deposited in the brain, damages or even kills neurons by forming ion channels in cell membrane. Evidences found in several studies have been demonstrated this. The aim of the present revision is to analyze the role of ion channels in AD’s physiopathology.
