Introduction. Werdnig-Hoffmann is a degenerative neuromuscular disease, autosomal recessive, characterized by weakness and muscle atrophy. Is early in the prenatal period, for reduction of fetal movement, at birth or before the six months of life where the child has serious widespread hypotony, lack of movement, evolved with respiratory and motor impairment. The purpose of this study is to report the case of a patient of that disease, emphasizing their main complications of labour and the effect of physiotherapy done. Method. This study was carried out between August 2007 and March 2008 a patient with a 2-year-old who was hospitalized in home system (Home Care). The data collection proceeded with a single examiner, through analysis of medical records. Results. The data showed that the performance of physical therapy in disease Werdnig-Hoffmann presented favourable results, benefiting in motor deficit of the child. Conclusion. The child had spontaneous movement and responding to stimuli and the proposed treatment.
