Professional neurosis

Organic complaints arising from psychological causes are common in emergency rooms of clinical and neurological care. A synopsis of the text “Professional Neurosis” by the author Nicole Aubert is presented. Occupational traumatic neurosis is characterized by latent time or rumination, the syndrome characterized by recurrent nightmares that lead to traumatic situation, and the reorganization of personality characterized by fixation to the trauma reducing the perception of consciousness, activities and reactions. In professional psychoneurosis there is a prior personal context that will act as a sounding board of the organization, information related to the institutional environment, disturbed interpersonal relationships and the threat of being discarded after consumed generate collective stress, if added to the personal history culminates in symptoms of malaise as constant nervousness and aggressive behavior, increasing the stress staff. The neurosis of excellence, also known as idealization disease, stems from the effort to achieve the ideals of excellence; the person develops an image similar to the standards of excellence of the institution, rather than his personality, culminating in symptoms depression and asthenia. The recognition and appropriate referral of patients of these diseases generally do not occur in general urgency services in which professionals also may be sick.
