Abstract

Introduction. The article discusses actigraphy in clinical setting. Actigraphy is a simple exam to detect sleep and circadian rhythm disorders though it can be used in other areas. Objective. This review aimed to show the use of actigraphy in clinical setting in other countries to show to the brazilian public that underuses this device in other health care areas. Method. We performed bibliographic review based on original PUBMED articles containing keyword actigraphy and published in 2009. Articles with more than 10 subjects and free access were selected. Results. Actigraphy has been used in innumerous areas: cardiology, chronobiology, sleep disorders, chronic pain, women’s health, neurology, pediatrics and psychiatry. Conclusion. We conclude that actigraphy can be used in other healthcare areas in Brazil like it is already used in other countries.
